Maxon Flanger FL-305

Maxon Flanger FL-305

The Maxon FL-305 flanger uses a bucket-brigade delay line to create its sweeping comb-filter effect. Its Rate control sets the speed of the modulation LFO, while Depth determines how far the delay time sweeps, widening or narrowing the pitch-bending and jet-like swoosh. A Manual control shifts the center delay time, altering the character of the flanging from subtle phasing to more pronounced metallic tones. The pedal includes a Resonance control that feeds the delayed signal back into the input, intensifying the effect and adding a more dramatic, hollow quality as it is increased. A dedicated Mix control blends the dry and effected signals, allowing for anything from a subtle shimmer to a full wet flange. The FL-305 operates in mono, with a single input and output, and is powered by a standard 9V DC supply. Its analog circuitry responds dynamically to picking attack, and the effect can be bypassed with a true bypass footswitch, preserving the dry signal when the effect is off.
